The Net and the Self
“The Net and the Self is an interactive music and dance installation mirroring our networked society.
The audience enter in a room illuminated by UV blacklights where dancers and musicians interact through an amplified harp that has its strings connected with fluorescent fishing lines attached to the walls.
The installation is not a static, fixed piece of artwork, rather a constantly evolving experience that includes both the artists and the audience. In this way, we question the existing hierarchical dynamic, and what is art in general.
The artists that create this installation are : Pierre Emmanuel Mariaca (MFA3 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Herry Kim (MFA1 in Arts), Dongpu Ling (MFA1 in Arts and technology), Brian Griffith (MFA1 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Gabe Le Neveu (BFA1 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Andrea Soto (BFA1 in Dance), Yunju Cho (BFA1 in Dance), Lena Martin (BFA1 in Dance) Anne LeBaron, and Ruoyi Shi (MFA1 in Arts).

ML Landscape I am interested in the inaccurate and unpredictable result that a machine can make. In order to understand its “mind”, I train the machine using images that have not been cropped, to see how it understands a thing that has not be seen before.

A collection of melodies. Embedded like a small light in the corner. This piece engages themes and processes of transparency/translucence, copying/covering, and distance/absence: the traces of a thing not there. Melody fragments expand and contract. Here, melody crystallizes into harmony and harmony unfolds as melody. Like a constellation of stars; or in the direction of […]

The Naked Hours For 100 hours, I cut 2 x 2 inches black paper with scissors and covered the L-Shape Gallery walls at the California Institute of the Arts. I did not speak. I did not use a cell phone or other electronics. I ate, rested, wrote, and meditated as necessary. I left the gallery […]
