The Net and the Self

“The Net and the Self is an interactive music and dance installation mirroring our networked society.
The audience enter in a room illuminated by UV blacklights where dancers and musicians interact through an amplified harp that has its strings connected with fluorescent fishing lines attached to the walls.
The installation is not a static, fixed piece of artwork, rather a constantly evolving experience that includes both the artists and the audience. In this way, we question the existing hierarchical dynamic, and what is art in general.
The artists that create this installation are : Pierre Emmanuel Mariaca (MFA3 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Herry Kim (MFA1 in Arts), Dongpu Ling (MFA1 in Arts and technology), Brian Griffith (MFA1 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Gabe Le Neveu (BFA1 in Composition and experimental sounds practices), Andrea Soto (BFA1 in Dance), Yunju Cho (BFA1 in Dance), Lena Martin (BFA1 in Dance) Anne LeBaron, and Ruoyi Shi (MFA1 in Arts).

Suffocation My artworks respond to the psychological impact of action and reaction (Sir Isaac Newton’s third law of motion). I like to think of this law in metaphorical terms beyond the literal mathematical implications. Noticing Nature Noticing Nature looks at how a new story is needed that is more centered around nature. It explores how everything, including ourselves, is connected, and how important it is that we take the time to slow down and notice the nature that surrounds us every day. http://www.noticingnature.com/

Three kinetic sculptures explore relationships between circularity/co-opting/recycling and linearity/polarization/binary-ness, and how personal agency or positionality intersects with these linked mechanics. (They’re NOT “voting machines;” they reflect the operation of many large systems, frameworks and conversations, e.g., the relationship between the DIY ethos and capitalism, between the political far left and far right, and among nested […]

Still Growing “Still Growing” is a short solo created in the restrictions of my home surrounded around a stool. It is a study on time and growth, striving to show that we are “still growing” in this time of quarantine.

Don't Let Me Be Lonely Don’t Let Me Be Lonely is an architectural projection performance inspired by Claudia Rankine’s book of poems of the same name. The projection mapping explores loneliness as it exists at CalArts both before and during the COVID19 Crisis. Rankine defines loneliness as “What we cannot do for each other.” This […]
