DESCRIPTION :
of the same place (2021) is motivated by the experience of emptiness, time passing by, and the feeling of loneliness. In the making of this project, I was taken back to climbing the orange and grapefruit trees in my backyard when I was growing up; they were in every yard behind the houses I can remember my family moving to. I recalled the inquisitive feelings I had when investigating my environment when I was young, easily consumed with what was in front of me while the rest of the world melted away. This experience feels different as the years pass by; there is a yearning for play and reprieve while the world is shifting beneath you. This project is a reference to the past, approached from my experiences in facing the present.
