DESCRIPTION :
Live performance of Olivier Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin de temps (“Quartet for The End of Time”) by a chamber ensemble of CalArts’ premier student instrumental performers. The group consists of MFAs Simone Maura, Bob Wang, Grace Dashnaw, and DMA Daniel Newman-Lessler. This seminal piece was written and premiered January 15, 1941, at the Stalag VIIIA prisoner-of-war camp, in Görlitz, Germany, where the composer and performers were imprisoned.
