DESCRIPTION :
“clvr” is a piece for violin with an ambiguous support system. Whether the support is directly controlled by the player with sustainers and loopers, or if the support role is played by others, no sound comes into existence without the violinist. At first, captured sustained, imitated, and looped gestures and harmonies are a calm and supportive ambient background for the violinist to explore. As the support system increases its activity, the atmosphere develops an unhealthy density, overwhelming the violinist until the the support can no longer capture new material, and is eventually forgotten.
