DESCRIPTION :
Doppler Study I is a kinetic sound art installation featuring three digitally manipulated sound sources on spinning arms. The variations in pitch and volume caused by the spinning are counteracted using digital processing creating one “focal point” in the room at which the viewer perceives a “pure” signal. This effect is applied to an original three-channel musical composition, creating a potent auditory illusion and giving the viewer a visceral sense of space as they move throughout the gallery. This brings into focus the poetry of the physical nature of sound.
