DESCRIPTION :<\/h6>\n
Tianak in the Balete Tree is a thought-provoking art installation that delves into the intersection of folklore, feminine experiences, and bodily autonomy. Inspired by the mystique surrounding the Balete tree in the Philippines\u2014a site associated with spirits and mystical rites\u2014the artwork invites viewers into a visceral exploration of the female body and its narratives. Red fabric strips symbolize both tree branches and human intestines, drawing parallels between life and decay. Inside, a womb-like hammock houses a shadowy figure, representing the mythical “tianak” growing within the uterus. Visitors are encouraged to enter the tree, prompting reflection on feminine experiences. Light paintings of the galaxy or brain complement the narrative, inviting viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of womanhood<\/span><\/div>\n
